History

TIMES was formed in January of 2005 by Ken Fleming, a veteran traditional Irish musician who has promoted the playing of Irish music since 1980.  A founder/president of the Southwest Celtic Music Association and founder/director of the North Texas Irish Festival, Ken and a community of traditional players from throughout the region are organizing programs to teach the music and increase its performance.  TIMES is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization operating in the State of Texas and is the producer of the O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat held annually in October and conducts sessions and group instruction programs year-round.  A band called the Irish TIMES Band, comprised of many of the retreat teachers, performs at venues throughout the state to raise money for TIMES as well as promote Irish music education.
